A lot of people have asked me about the origin of North Chavis, so I've decided to let the world know my true (not-so-Hollywood) story. My paternal ancestors are originally from the South, and when they moved to the North, the northerners couldn't pronounce Chavis (their last name) correctly due to the southern drawl, and it was changed--for some odd reason--to Schaffer.
